"Head Above Water" - Avril Lavigne (Song Review)

Image
"I've gotta keep the calm before the storm I don't want less, I don't want more" I really love the 2019 single "Head Above Water" released by Avril Lavigne. One of the reasons I like it so much is because of the hidden story behind the story. Avril was diagnosed with Lyme disease which is a hard thing for a lot of people to understand. 3 years ago an ABC interview was conducted where Avril completely broke down talking about how she was bedridden, had to put her life and career on hold, seeing specialist after specialist and being given the run-around. I really can't imagine how it feels to be successful, the world at your back, ready to take your life any direction you want it, but even that's not enough when something out of your control happens and now everything changes. That's not an easy thing to deal with. These are the things you have to look at through the lens of a celebrity. Avril, despite being a raging punk rockstar...

State Of The Sade (3/19/19)

Hello fellow Palisaders, Currently Mar. 19, and it's been a solid month since I've started this Blogger and I'm not disappointed since I have 4 members signed up already and 3 waiting to accept invites. We've posted a few blogs that have gotten attention from our in-group and that's about it. Learning to broadcast and let the world know about this page is the next priority after finally gaining writers like we have now. A second fundraiser is up on Facebook now for Lasting Hope ministry, the group we've worked with the most so far in Project Palisade's short existence. The fundraiser has raised $115 out of $1000 so far and will be ending on the 31st of March. Beyond that, Palisade's continued work on its promotion page to help underbudget or network seeking artists and organizations get a little more attention. It's also the Lenten season currently. While Palisade is not a Christian group, Lent is an excellent incentive for Palisade member...

Christina Grimmie: Pulse

This essay will be a bit shorter, even though this story has so many angles I can cover and much to be said, it’s simply not my story to tell. I never knew Christina Grimmie or her family, I never even discovered her until after it was announced she died in 2016. But as a content creator, I wanted to at least share my two cents about what went through my mind as I read her story. All of America’s eyes were on Florida during the nights of June 11th-12th, 2016. Grimmie was shot by a stalker after a concert in Orlando, and a gay latino nightclub, also in Orlando, was shot up by an Islamic extremist the very next night. There was plenty of reason for controversy to swallow the news world whole following these incidents. America had a growing epidemic with mass shootings, the Islamic terror group known as ISIS was making its presence known at the same time, gay rights were just being further explored the year before when gay marriage was legalized in all 50 states at once, and ...

Life Of Pi: The Boy Who Could Not Be Tamed

Image
Tame \ 'tam\. Domesticated: not dangerous or frightened by people. Made docile and submissive. It’s a word used to describe animals, reckless fellows, dangerous psychopaths, or legends who’s greatness cannot be contained. The legend I’m here to talk about is Piscine Patel, known as Pi, and the story “Life Of Pi”. The beginning of this story details Pi’s childhood growing up into a family of zookeepers in India. Pi was a brilliant student, and somebody who studied 3 different major religions by the time he was 16, I mean you could have stopped the book right there and I still would have been amazed by this beast, but on top of that, this kid survived an entire voyage across the Pacific ocean. He made the Titanic survivors look like scrubs. The first segment of the movie is the beginning of Pi’s life which sets the stage for understanding the groundworks of his mind and everyone he met. Family, potential lovers, and of course the animals, my favorite quote fro...
